Here’s the quote from Virginia State Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell’s office, “Perhaps you should ask ICE why they didn’t deport him the first time Trump’s ICE had him in 2018 or even issue a detainer for him the eight times he was arrested since 2023.”
Just a few minutes of digging disprove this lie blaming ICE for Fairfax County and Virginia government failures to prevent a murder by a known criminal and illegal alien Abdul Jalloh. Here are some key facts:
- Fact #1: ICE followed due process from 2018 until 2020 to get an order of removal for anywhere other than Sierra Leone where Jalloh was originally from. (https://cline.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2674.
- Fact #2: A new presidential administration came to power in 2021 and apparently did not act on this order of removal for four years.
- Fact #3: In 2018 Fairfax County Sheriff department declared a new policy they won’t detain an illegal immigrant after release from prison for ICE to pick-up unless ICE has a criminal warrant. (https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/sheriff/sheriff-terminates-intergovernmental-service-agreement-ice#:~:text=Kincaid%20has%20notified%20Immigration%20and,detainer%20issued%20by%20a%20court). And since this Sheriff department refuses to notify ICE of the time of release, this effectively makes Fairfax County, VA a Sanctuary City in all but name.
- Fact #4: In reality, criminal warrants are not required for handing over illegal aliens to ICE in public buildings (such as jails / prisons) as claimed by Virginia and Fairfax County (see National Immigration Law Center document titled “Know Your Right” date Dec. 4. 2025.
Conclusion: ICE did everything its power and followed due process under two presidential administrations (2018-2020 and 2025-2026) to deport Jalloh. Another administration (2021-2024) along with Fairfax county allowed Jalloh to run freely despite racking up 30 charges (as stated in the article) instead of deporting him in accordance with the law to prevent this murder.
To add to the craziness, a similar situation occurred with another illegal alien, Marvin Morales-Ortez another who Fairfax County would not turn over to ICE. Sadly, he killed someone the day after he got out of jail. (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dhs-rips-dem-run-county-after-illegal-immigrant-murderer-released-blood-hands). You couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried.
And if somehow that’s not enough evidence of the irrational behavior and culpability …here’s the kicker…Fairfax County still won’t turn Adbul Jalloh over to the ICE. We hate to speculate but good chance this murderer is released back to the public again…stay tuned…
